Tarot Legend

A Vintage Hollywood Guide to the 78 Cards

Anna Bee

An expanded guide to the 78 cards, exploring their symbols, meanings, shadows, choices and turning points through the glamour and mystery of Old Hollywood.

Each card reveals its central meaning, shadow expression, love, work & money, and a final cinematic whisper — interpreted through the distinctive world of Tarot Legend.

A Note from Anna Bee

The story behind Tarot Legend

I created Tarot Legend from the meeting point of two worlds that have shaped my life: visual art and the mysterious language of tarot.

I am an artist, painter, art director and actress. I have spent much of my life studying faces, gesture, atmosphere, color and the stories that can exist inside a single image. For me, a tarot card is not simply an illustration. It is a scene — a moment suspended between what has already happened and what may happen next.

Tarot Legend was born from my fascination with classic cinema and the unforgettable personalities who became larger than life on the screen. I wanted the deck to feel like a lost Hollywood film: glamorous, intimate, dramatic and psychologically alive, while still preserving the recognizable symbolic heart of tarot.

This guidebook was created to accompany that visual world. The meanings are written to be useful both to experienced readers and to someone opening a tarot deck for the first time. Read the traditional meaning, but also look at the face, the light, the gesture and the atmosphere of the card. Very often, the image will tell you what the words cannot.

Why Marilyn

The muse at the heart of Tarot Legend

Marilyn Monroe became the natural center of Tarot Legend because her image contains so many of tarot’s contradictions: radiance and vulnerability, desire and loneliness, reinvention and fate, public myth and private truth.

The world remembers the icon — the blonde hair, the camera flashes, the gowns, the smile. But behind that image was a woman who repeatedly transformed herself, searched for love and artistic recognition, challenged the role the world assigned to her, and paid a price for being turned into a legend.

That duality makes her an extraordinary mirror for tarot. The cards themselves are full of the same tensions: The Star and The Moon, The Lovers and The Devil, The Sun and The Tower, beginnings and endings, glamour and shadow. Marilyn’s presence allows these archetypes to enter a cinematic world without losing their emotional meaning.

This deck is not intended as a biography of Marilyn Monroe. It is an artistic tarot universe inspired by her presence and by the atmosphere of classic Hollywood — a world in which every card becomes a scene and every reading becomes a story still being written.

The legend is on the screen. The meaning is in the cards.

How to Read Tarot Legend

Every card is a scene: a mood, a choice, a turning point. Read the image first, then the meaning. Notice what attracts your eye, what feels uncomfortable, and what seems to be asking for your attention.

Upright / Central Meaning describes the card’s strongest traditional current. Shadow / Reversed shows blocked, excessive, delayed or distorted expression. Love and Work & Money translate the archetype into everyday questions. The Card Whispers is guidance, not a command.

Major Arcana describe larger life chapters and turning points. Minor Arcana bring the story into daily life: Wands are fire and action; Cups are water and emotion; Swords are air and thought; Pentacles are earth and the material world.

Tarot does not write the script for you. It illuminates the scene. You remain the one who chooses what happens next.

22 Cards

The Major Arcana

The Major Arcana are the great scenes of the human story — the moments that change the direction of the entire film.

Unlike the Minor Arcana, which often speak of everyday events, the twenty-two Major Arcana point to deeper turning points: beginnings, choices, love, ambition, temptation, loss, transformation, awakening and completion.

The journey begins with The Fool, standing at the threshold of a completely new life. There is no finished script in his hands. He steps forward with innocence, possibility and trust, and every card that follows becomes another scene in the making of a human soul.

Along the way come the forces that shape us: The Magician teaches the power of intention; The Lovers confront us with desire and choice; The Wheel of Fortune changes the scenery; Death closes a chapter; The Tower tears away what can no longer stand; and The Star reminds us that hope can return after everything has changed.

The journey reaches Judgement, where the past is understood and a new calling can be heard, and finally The World — completion, integration and the closing of a great cycle. Yet in tarot, an ending is never simply an ending. After The World, The Fool is ready to step forward once again.

Think of the Major Arcana as twenty-two unforgettable scenes from the larger film of your life. When one appears, pay attention: the story may be changing direction.

Major Arcana · 0

The Fool

New beginning • freedom • possibility • leap of faith • adventure

Upright / Central Meaning
A completely new chapter is opening. The Fool is the soul before experience has written its rules: curious, unburdened and willing to step beyond the familiar. It often appears at a genuine turning point — a move, journey, new relationship, career change or inner reinvention. Its gift is freedom from the past and the courage to begin without knowing every detail.
Shadow / Reversed
Recklessness, poor preparation, naivety or drifting without direction. The card may warn that excitement is being mistaken for readiness, or that fear of looking foolish is preventing a necessary beginning.
Love & Relationships
Fresh attraction, an unexpected meeting or a relationship that feels liberating. It can also describe someone who wants freedom more than definition. Reversed, watch inconsistency, avoidance of commitment or impulsive choices.
Work & Money
A new field, project, journey or independent path can open. Beginner status is not a weakness here; curiosity is an asset. Reversed, research the practical risks before resigning, investing or promising more than you can deliver.
The Card Whispers

Begin — but do not confuse faith with blindness. Travel light, keep your eyes open, and let the next chapter teach you who you are becoming.

Major Arcana · I

The Magician

will • manifestation • skill • initiative • communication

Upright / Central Meaning
The Magician marks the moment when possibility becomes action. Talent, timing, intelligence and personal magnetism can now be directed toward a concrete result. The four suits are symbolically ’on the table’: you have more resources than you may realize. This card asks for concentration, self-belief and deliberate use of your abilities.
Shadow / Reversed
Scattered energy, unused talent, manipulation, empty promises or trying to create an image without substance. It can also show self-doubt that prevents you from using real ability.
Love & Relationships
Strong chemistry and active pursuit. Someone may be ready to make the first move or define the connection through action. Reversed, charm may outrun sincerity; look at behavior, not performance.
Work & Money
Excellent for launching, pitching, negotiating, creating and taking ownership. Reversed, refine the plan, verify claims and avoid clever shortcuts that weaken credibility.
The Card Whispers

Use what is already in your hands. Focus the spotlight on one intention and make it real through action.

Major Arcana · II

The High Priestess

intuition • mystery • inner knowledge • privacy • patience

Upright / Central Meaning
The High Priestess rules what cannot be forced into daylight. She represents intuition, hidden information, silence, dreams and knowledge that arrives through observation rather than pursuit. A situation may contain more than is being said. The card favors patience, discernment and trust in the quiet intelligence beneath appearances.
Shadow / Reversed
Blocked intuition, secrecy that becomes unhealthy, emotional suppression or confusing anxiety with instinct. It can also suggest that important information is being ignored.
Love & Relationships
A private or subtle bond, unspoken feelings, spiritual intimacy or a connection developing beneath the surface. Reversed, silence may create misunderstanding; do not invent certainty where communication is needed.
Work & Money
Research, study, confidential work and specialist knowledge are favored. Reversed, something behind the scenes may need verification before a decision is made.
The Card Whispers

Do not chase the answer. Become still enough to recognize it when it appears.

The Empress, from Anna Bee Tarot: Legend
Major Arcana · III

The Empress

abundance • beauty • creativity • sensuality • growth

Upright / Central Meaning
The Empress is life in full bloom: creativity, pleasure, fertility, generosity and the power to make something flourish. She can describe art, love, home, the body, motherhood or any project that needs nurturing rather than force. Her abundance is not merely luxury; it is the capacity to create conditions in which life becomes richer.
Shadow / Reversed
Overgiving, creative stagnation, dependence on approval, neglect of the body or smothering care. Beauty without nourishment can become performance.
Love & Relationships
Warmth, affection, sensuality and a relationship capable of growing into greater security. Reversed, one person may be giving too much or using attention as proof of love.
Work & Money
Creative work, hospitality, design, beauty, growth and people-centered ventures are favored. Reversed, protect resources and avoid spending simply to create an impression.
The Card Whispers

Nurture what you want to keep. Give your art, body, home and relationships the conditions they need to thrive.

The Emperor, from Anna Bee Tarot: Legend
Major Arcana · IV

The Emperor

authority • structure • protection • discipline • boundaries

Upright / Central Meaning
The Emperor turns ambition into order. He represents leadership, responsibility, rules, stability and the ability to create a structure strong enough to support long-term goals. He may point to an authority figure, institution or the need to become your own authority.
Shadow / Reversed
Rigidity, domination, excessive control, conflict with authority or structure that has become suffocating. The opposite can also occur: weak boundaries and lack of discipline.
Love & Relationships
A serious, protective or highly structured connection. Commitment may matter, but so does the balance of power. Reversed, control, stubbornness or emotional distance can become the issue.
Work & Money
Leadership, management, contracts and strategic planning are emphasized. Reversed, question inefficient rules or a power struggle before making a major move.
The Card Whispers

Create order without becoming imprisoned by it. Strong boundaries should protect life, not control it.

Major Arcana · V

The Hierophant

tradition • teaching • commitment • institutions • shared values

Upright / Central Meaning
The Hierophant concerns the systems that teach us how things are ’supposed’ to be done: tradition, religion, education, marriage, mentorship and established institutions. It can indicate guidance from an experienced teacher or a decision about which values deserve formal commitment.
Shadow / Reversed
Rebellion for its own sake, restrictive convention, hypocrisy or following rules that no longer reflect your conscience. It can also signal an unconventional path.
Love & Relationships
Commitment, shared values and formalizing a relationship are traditional themes. Reversed, the relationship may reject convention or expose a mismatch in beliefs.
Work & Money
Education, certification, established organizations and mentorship can be useful. Reversed, innovation may require challenging an outdated method.
The Card Whispers

Learn the rules well enough to know which ones deserve your loyalty — and which ones do not.

Major Arcana · VI

The Lovers

love • choice • alignment • attraction • values

Upright / Central Meaning
The Lovers is not only romance; it is a consequential choice made in alignment with the self. Attraction, intimacy and chemistry are present, but the deeper question is whether desire, values and responsibility can coexist. The card often appears when a decision reveals what you truly stand for.
Shadow / Reversed
Disharmony, temptation, divided loyalties, avoidance of choice or choosing against your own values. Attraction alone may not solve incompatibility.
Love & Relationships
Powerful attraction, mutual recognition and the possibility of meaningful partnership. Reversed, examine triangles, mixed signals or value conflicts rather than relying on chemistry.
Work & Money
A choice between paths, partnerships or opportunities. The best direction is the one that aligns talent with values, not merely status.
The Card Whispers

Choose what lets you remain whole. Love and success become sustainable when desire and conscience agree.

Major Arcana · VII

The Chariot

willpower • direction • victory • momentum • self-control

Upright / Central Meaning
The Chariot signals movement after uncertainty. Opposing forces can be brought under one direction through discipline and intention. Travel, ambition, competition and decisive progress are common themes. Victory is possible, but only if you are driving rather than being dragged by conflicting impulses.
Shadow / Reversed
Loss of direction, aggression, scattered effort or trying to force progress before inner conflict is resolved.
Love & Relationships
A relationship can move forward quickly when both people want the same destination. Reversed, competing agendas or control issues can create instability.
Work & Money
Strong for advancement, launches, travel and competitive goals. Reversed, slow down long enough to correct the route before accelerating.
The Card Whispers

Take the wheel. Momentum becomes power only when you know where you are going.

Major Arcana · VIII

Strength

courage • compassion • patience • inner power • self-mastery

Upright / Central Meaning
Strength is quiet mastery rather than domination. It represents courage, emotional regulation, compassion and the ability to meet powerful instincts without being ruled by them. The card often appears when patience and dignity will accomplish more than pressure.
Shadow / Reversed
Self-doubt, suppressed anger, insecurity or attempting to prove strength through force. Exhaustion can also weaken emotional control.
Love & Relationships
Deep attraction can be handled with tenderness rather than possession. Reversed, jealousy, insecurity or unspoken resentment may need compassionate honesty.
Work & Money
Steady confidence, diplomacy and resilience bring results. Reversed, rebuild confidence before confronting every challenge at once.
The Card Whispers

Do not perform power. Practice it. Calm courage can tame what force only provokes.

The Hermit, from Anna Bee Tarot: Legend
Major Arcana · IX

The Hermit

solitude • wisdom • introspection • guidance • retreat

Upright / Central Meaning
The Hermit dims the external spotlight so inner truth can be seen. Temporary withdrawal, study, contemplation and mature self-examination help separate your own voice from the expectations of others. It may also represent a wise guide or the search for deeper meaning.
Shadow / Reversed
Isolation, loneliness, avoidance or withdrawing so completely that perspective narrows rather than deepens.
Love & Relationships
Space may be needed to understand feelings honestly. Reversed, distance can become emotional disappearance or fear of vulnerability.
Work & Money
Independent work, research and strategic reflection are favored. Reversed, do not remain invisible when collaboration or advice would genuinely help.
The Card Whispers

Step away from the noise, not from life. Return when the silence has given you something true.

Major Arcana · X

Wheel of Fortune

cycles • change • timing • luck • turning point

Upright / Central Meaning
The Wheel announces movement in circumstances. A cycle is turning, sometimes through events beyond personal control. Opportunity, coincidence and timing become important. The card reminds us that neither triumph nor difficulty is permanent; the intelligent response is adaptability.
Shadow / Reversed
Resistance to change, repeated patterns, poor timing or feeling caught in circumstances. The lesson may repeat until the pattern is recognized.
Love & Relationships
A relationship may enter a new phase or arrive through unexpected timing. Reversed, recurring dynamics need attention before the cycle can change.
Work & Money
Shifts in opportunity, market, role or direction can open doors. Reversed, build flexibility and avoid relying on luck alone.
The Card Whispers

When the scene changes, move with it. The turning wheel can become an opening if you are willing to release the previous act.

Justice, from Anna Bee Tarot: Legend
Major Arcana · XI

Justice

truth • balance • accountability • law • consequences

Upright / Central Meaning
Justice asks for clear sight. Facts, contracts, ethics, cause and effect, legal matters and fair decisions come into focus. This card does not promise that every outcome feels pleasant; it asks whether the outcome is proportionate, honest and defensible.
Shadow / Reversed
Bias, denial, unfair treatment, avoidance of responsibility or an unresolved legal/contractual issue.
Love & Relationships
Honest conversation and equal responsibility are essential. Reversed, imbalance or refusal to acknowledge consequences can erode trust.
Work & Money
Contracts, negotiations and formal decisions require precision. Reversed, read the fine print and correct incomplete information.
The Card Whispers

Remove the glamour from the facts. Choose what you can defend tomorrow as well as today.

The Hanged Man, from Anna Bee Tarot: Legend
Major Arcana · XII

The Hanged Man

surrender • pause • perspective • release • suspension

Upright / Central Meaning
The Hanged Man represents a meaningful pause. Progress may appear suspended, but the purpose is a change in perspective. By releasing control, an old assumption or the demand for immediate results, you may see what ordinary effort could not reveal.
Shadow / Reversed
Stagnation, martyrdom, needless delay or waiting without learning. Sacrifice is not useful when it has no purpose.
Love & Relationships
A relationship may require patience or a completely different viewpoint. Reversed, one person may be waiting indefinitely without mutual movement.
Work & Money
Delay can be productive if it changes the strategy. Reversed, distinguish thoughtful suspension from procrastination.
The Card Whispers

Do not force the next scene. Release one assumption and look again from another angle.

Major Arcana · XIII

Death

ending • transformation • release • transition • rebirth

Upright / Central Meaning
Death marks an irreversible transition: a role, relationship, identity, habit or chapter has completed its purpose. The card rarely concerns literal death; its central meaning is transformation through ending. Space must be cleared before the next form of life can emerge.
Shadow / Reversed
Clinging to what is finished, fear of change, prolonged endings or attempting to revive a chapter that has already changed beyond recognition.
Love & Relationships
A relationship may transform profoundly or end so that both people can move forward. Reversed, fear of loss can keep an unhealthy pattern alive.
Work & Money
A career phase, business model or professional identity may need to end. Reversed, delaying necessary change can make transition harder.
The Card Whispers

Let the curtain fall where the story is truly over. Transformation begins when you stop negotiating with the ending.

Temperance, from Anna Bee Tarot: Legend
Major Arcana · XIV

Temperance

balance • healing • moderation • integration • patience

Upright / Central Meaning
Temperance is the art of combining opposites into a workable whole. Healing, moderation, timing and gradual adjustment restore equilibrium. It favors sustainable progress over extremes and asks for the elegant middle path between impulse and rigidity.
Shadow / Reversed
Excess, imbalance, impatience or incompatible elements being forced together. A recalibration is needed.
Love & Relationships
Compromise and emotional healing can strengthen a bond. Reversed, repeated extremes or mismatched pacing may require clearer limits.
Work & Money
Integration, teamwork and steady improvement are favored. Reversed, avoid overextension and correct the process before scaling it.
The Card Whispers

Make the small adjustment that restores proportion. Balance is not dullness; it is controlled power.

Major Arcana · XV

The Devil

attachment • temptation • obsession • materialism • shadow

Upright / Central Meaning
The Devil reveals where desire has become a chain. Temptation, dependency, obsession, shame, power games and seductive bargains may be present. The important secret of this card is that the chains are often looser than they appear: awareness creates the possibility of choice.
Shadow / Reversed
Breaking free, recognizing manipulation, reclaiming agency — or, in some readings, denial of an attachment that still has power.
Love & Relationships
Intense chemistry can become possessiveness, secrecy or dependency. Reversed, a toxic dynamic may finally be seen clearly enough to leave.
Work & Money
Money, status or ambition may carry a hidden price. Reversed, renegotiating an exploitative arrangement or unhealthy work pattern becomes possible.
The Card Whispers

Name the attachment without romance or shame. What fascinates you is not automatically what deserves to own you.

Major Arcana · XVI

The Tower

revelation • rupture • upheaval • truth • liberation

Upright / Central Meaning
The Tower breaks a structure that can no longer contain reality. Sudden truth, disruption, exposure or collapse may feel dramatic, but the deeper purpose is liberation from an unstable foundation. What is genuine can be rebuilt; illusion cannot.
Shadow / Reversed
Fear of inevitable change, delayed crisis, internal upheaval or attempting to preserve a structure already cracking.
Love & Relationships
A revelation can change the relationship quickly. Reversed, tension may be contained temporarily but still requires truth.
Work & Money
Unexpected restructuring, cancellation or exposure of a weak plan can redirect the future. Reversed, prepare for change rather than pretending the risk is absent.
The Card Whispers

Save what is real, not what merely looks perfect. Rebuild after the truth is visible.

Major Arcana · XVII

The Star

hope • renewal • authenticity • inspiration • healing

Upright / Central Meaning
The Star appears after the Tower as a return of faith. It represents renewal, openness, inspiration and the quiet certainty that life can become beautiful again. It favors authenticity over performance and long-range hope over immediate applause.
Shadow / Reversed
Discouragement, loss of faith, comparison or difficulty receiving hope even when recovery has begun.
Love & Relationships
A gentle, honest connection can restore trust. Reversed, idealization or hopelessness may distort what the relationship actually offers.
Work & Money
Creative inspiration and a clearer sense of purpose return. Reversed, reconnect with the reason you began rather than chasing external validation.
The Card Whispers

Follow what restores your spirit. Hope becomes practical when it gives you the courage to continue.

Major Arcana · XVIII

The Moon

uncertainty • intuition • illusion • dreams • subconscious

Upright / Central Meaning
The Moon belongs to the half-lit world of instinct, dreams, projection and incomplete information. Feelings may be real while interpretations remain uncertain. It asks you to respect intuition without confusing fear with prophecy. Secrets, ambiguity and heightened imagination can shape the scene.
Shadow / Reversed
Confusion beginning to lift, truth emerging, or anxiety that has become so strong it obscures reality.
Love & Relationships
Mixed signals, hidden feelings or projection may complicate love. Reversed, something previously unclear can begin to surface.
Work & Money
Do not make irreversible decisions from rumor, fear or incomplete data. Reversed, missing information may finally become available.
The Card Whispers

Trust your instincts — then verify the story. Wait for more light before declaring the shadows to be facts.

Major Arcana · XIX

The Sun

joy • success • vitality • clarity • recognition

Upright / Central Meaning
The Sun is openness, confidence and life force. What was hidden becomes visible; success can be enjoyed without apology. It often points to happiness, recognition, warmth, creativity and a period in which things are simpler because the truth is in daylight.
Shadow / Reversed
Temporary clouding of joy, delayed success, overexposure or pressure to appear happy when something still needs attention.
Love & Relationships
Warmth, honesty and mutual delight strengthen connection. Reversed, expectations of perfection may obscure real affection.
Work & Money
Visibility, achievement and confidence are favored. Reversed, success may be present but not yet fully recognized or enjoyed.
The Card Whispers

Step into the light. Receive what is working instead of immediately searching for the next problem.

Major Arcana · XX

Judgement

awakening • reckoning • calling • forgiveness • renewal

Upright / Central Meaning
Judgement is the moment of hearing a larger call. The past returns to be understood, not endlessly repeated. Accountability, forgiveness, awakening and a decisive change of direction are central. A former version of the self can be integrated and released.
Shadow / Reversed
Self-condemnation, refusal to learn from the past, fear of answering a calling or repeating an old pattern despite knowing better.
Love & Relationships
A relationship may receive a second look, an honest reckoning or a chance to make a mature decision. Reversed, old grievances can keep the present trapped.
Work & Money
Vocation and purpose come into focus. Reversed, fear of judgment may keep you from answering an opportunity that matters.
The Card Whispers

Learn from the old script, then stop performing it. Answer the call with the person you are now.

The World, from Anna Bee Tarot: Legend
Major Arcana · XXI

The World

completion • fulfillment • integration • achievement • travel

Upright / Central Meaning
The World closes a major cycle with integration and accomplishment. Lessons that once felt separate now form a coherent whole. Completion, graduation, travel, public achievement and a sense of belonging are common. It is an ending that expands rather than diminishes you.
Shadow / Reversed
Unfinished business, delayed completion or reaching the end without allowing yourself to recognize what has been achieved.
Love & Relationships
A relationship can reach mature fulfillment or an important stage of completion. Reversed, one final unresolved matter may prevent closure.
Work & Money
A major project, career phase or international opportunity can culminate successfully. Reversed, finish the last details before moving on.
The Card Whispers

Receive the ending as an achievement. Celebrate the completed chapter before opening another.

Engagement, reunion, celebration or feeling welcomed into each other’s world; reversed, domestic tension needs attention.

Let joy become part of the foundation, not merely a reward postponed until everything is perfect.

Suit of Wands

Five of Wands

competition • friction • challenge • clashing wills

Upright / Central Meaning
Several strong energies compete for the same space. Debate and rivalry can sharpen skill, but unmanaged ego turns creative tension into wasted conflict.
Shadow / Reversed
Avoided conflict, internal tension or competition becoming unnecessarily hostile.
Love & Relationships
Chemistry may coexist with arguments or rivalry; reversed, conflict can be resolved if both stop trying to win.
Work & Money
Competitive environments can motivate growth; reversed, politics and scattered effort drain productivity.

Exhaustion, defensiveness, giving up too soon or fighting on too many fronts.
Love & Relationships
Protect the relationship from outside pressure without turning every disagreement into a siege.
Work & Money
Stand by a strong proposal or boundary; reversed, conserve energy and choose priorities.
The Card Whispers

Stand your ground where principle matters; release battles driven only by pride.

Delays, crossed messages, haste or energy scattered in too many directions.
Love & Relationships
Fast communication, sudden attraction or a relationship moving quickly; reversed, misunderstandings and inconsistent timing.
Work & Money
Rapid developments, travel or quick decisions; reversed, double-check logistics and communication.

Nine of Wands, from Anna Bee Tarot: Legend
Suit of Wands

burden • responsibility • overwork • pressure

Love & Relationships
One person may be carrying the emotional or practical relationship alone; reversed, redistribution is possible.
Work & Money

The Card Whispers

Put down what is not truly yours. Success should not require carrying the entire production alone.

Suit of Wands

Page of Wands

curiosity • message • exploration • creative youth

Upright / Central Meaning
